Offer Description The University of Salerno announces the establishment of the XLII Cycle of the Ph D courses. The public competition for admission to the Ph D Programme in Methods and Methodologies of Archaeological and Art Historical Research – MEM (website: ) is currently open. The closing date for applications is 06.08.2026. The MEM doctoral degree has three curricula: Archaeology and Territorial Systems History of Art, Aesthetics, and Languages of Images Musico‐ology and Performing Arts The participation in the public competition is reserved to applicants who hold higher‐education qualifications, or have obtained an equivalent qualification abroad, without any restriction of age and citizenship. The examination procedure will entail a preliminary screening of the applications and their accompanying documents, followed by an interview. This will take place on 16.09.2026 at 10:00 a.m. (CET), Room 13, Department of Cultural Heritage Sciences–Di SPa C. Interviews will take place face‐to‐face. Foreign candidates can request to take the interview on the TEAMS platform,
either in Italian or in English. Candidates must communicate their e‐mail address, personal details, and attach a PDF file containing the reproduction of a valid identity document to the email address (email hidden). On the day and at the time established for the interview, candidates must be connected to TEAMS and be identified. Topics of the interview: Curriculum A: Presentation and discussion of the research project focused on the themes, theories, and methods of historical and archaeological research related to artistic and craft production, as well as settlement dynamics in the Greek, Roman, and Italic worlds. The chronological scope spans the ancient Mediterranean from the Early Iron Age to the Early Late Antiquity (5th‐6th century AD). Language assessment.
