Job Purpose

Security Engineer is responsible for protecting an organization’s systems and networks, securing data, and mitigating risks and vulnerabilities. They utilize a strong understanding of cyber threats, security principles, and technical expertise to safeguard information assets, ensuring full compliance with applicable cybersecurity regulations for railway (Direttiva 2016/1148 (Direttiva NIS)).

Job Duties (Responsibilities and Accountabilities)

- Identify and define system security requirements
- Design computer security architecture and develop detailed cyber security designs
- Prepare and document standard operating procedures and protocols
- Configure and troubleshoot security infrastructure devices
- Ensure rapid incident detection and reporting
- Develop technical solutions and new security tools to mitigate vulnerabilities and automate repeatable tasks
- Write comprehensive reports including assessment-based findings and recommendations
- Perform vulnerability testing, risk analyses, and security assessments
- Conduct system security and vulnerability analyses and risk assessments
- Train staff on network and information security procedures
- Stay up‑to‑date with the latest information security technologies and advancements





Experience and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (electronic, electric, computer science, telecommunication) or equivalent experience
- IT skills: experience with computer servers, network switches, load balancers, network analyzers, and related units
- Knowledge of developing strategic Cyber Risk and Security manager plans
- Solid understanding of network and system development and deployment
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and conceptual abilities
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with information processing fundamentals and best practices
- Ability to prioritize tasks, especially under pressure
- Leadership, collaboration, xysqume decision‑making, troubleshooting, interpersonal and consultative skills
- Ability to present ideas in user‑friendly language
- Ability to conduct research into emerging technologies and trends, standards, and products as required
