What you'll do
- Oversee and maintain general ledger accounts along with various subledger systems, ensuring all entries are accurately recorded and properly categorized according to established accounting standards.
- Execute comprehensive bank reconciliation processes on a regular basis, identifying and resolving any discrepancies while clearing suspense accounts in a timely manner.
- Conduct thorough balance sheet reconciliations across all account categories to guarantee data integrity and consistency throughout the financial reporting cycle.
- Manage the complete fixed asset accounting lifecycle, including establishing and enforcing capitalization policies, calculating depreciation and amortization schedules, and tracking asset movements.
- Collaborate closely with external payroll service providers to accurately record all compensation-related journal entries and ensure full compliance with statutory requirements and local regulations.
- Prepare comprehensive documentation packages and provide hands-on support during statutory audit engagements, responding to auditor inquiries and facilitating smooth audit completion.
- Compile and organize all necessary accounting information required for value-added tax submissions and other mandatory tax filings with Italian authorities.
- Identify opportunities to streamline existing accounting workflows and implement process improvements that strengthen internal controls and boost operational efficiency.
- Participate in month-end and year-end closing procedures, ensuring all deadlines are met while maintaining accuracy across all financial statements.
- Support the preparation of management reports and financial analyses that inform strategic decision-making at the leadership level.
- Assist with intercompany transaction reconciliations and ensure proper elimination entries for consolidated financial reporting purposes.
- Contribute to the documentation and maintenance of accounting policies and procedures to ensure consistency and compliance across the organization.
Requirements
- A minimum of two years of hands-on professional accounting experience, preferably gained within fintech companies, financial services organizations, or corporate accounting departments.
- Demonstrated familiarity with complete accounting close cycles, including monthly, quarterly, and annual closing procedures and the associated deliverables.
- Strong working knowledge of Italian accounting principles and local statutory requirements, with the ability to apply these standards accurately in day-to-day operations.
- Understanding of Luxembourg GAAP would be considered advantageous given the company's international structure and reporting obligations.
- Proven ability to work autonomously on assigned tasks while also functioning effectively as a collaborative team member in a rapidly evolving business environment.
- Professional fluency in both Italian and English languages, with strong written and verbal communication skills in each.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all financial record-keeping and reporting activities.
- Strong organizational skills with the capacity to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines consistently.
Nice to have
- Prior experience working with International Financial Reporting Standards and understanding of IFRS requirements for financial statement preparation.
- Hands-on knowledge of SAP S/4HANA enterprise resource planning system and its financial accounting modules.
- Technical skills in data automation, scripting languages, or specialized data analysis tools that can enhance accounting efficiency.
- Background in payment services, digital banking, or mobile financial applications.
- Experience with audit preparation and direct interaction with external auditing firms.
- Familiarity with multi-entity accounting structures and consolidation processes.
