Lead AUTOSAR Software Engineer | Freelance Opportunity | Torino, Italy
We are looking for a Lead AUTOSAR Software Engineer to join an exciting automotive programme in Torino, Italy. Freelance Contract
Location: Torino, Italy (Onsite 5 days/week)
Language: Fluent English, Italian
Must be based in Italy – No sponsorship available
What You'll Do
Debug and resolve embedded software issues across Production, Plant, and VHIL environments
Support bring-up and troubleshooting of:
- Bootloaders
- AUTOSAR OS
- HWIO
- COM
- DCM
- Memory (MEM) stacks
Work with Automotive Ethernet and SOME/IP communication protocols
Support UDS and DoIP diagnostic flashing processes
Collaborate with FOTA teams on:
- OTA campaign execution
- Partial updates
- Rollback mechanisms
- Firmware update debugging
Develop tools and scripts for:
- Log capture
- Automated debugging
- Flashing workflows
Perform root cause analysis with Base Software, Integration, Connectivity, Infotainment, and Plant teams
Ensure production readiness and diagnostic coverage across vehicle platforms
Required Skills & Experience
5+ years of Embedded Software Development experience
Strong C and/or C++ programming expertise
Excellent knowledge of Classic AUTOSAR Architecture and Specifications
Experience with AUTOSAR BSW configuration and integration:
- OS
- COM
- Diagnostics
- Memory Stack
MCAL configuration and Hardware Abstraction Layer development
Understanding of hardware schematics and low-level debugging
Experience with
- Multicore Architectures
- Functional Safety
- Automotive Ethernet
- SOME/IP
- UDS
- DoIP
Cybersecurity knowledge including:
- HSM configuration
- Message Authentication
Experience using:
- Compilers
- Emulators
- Debuggers
- Embedded Development Tools
Ability to technically lead globally distributed engineering teams
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
Advanced hands-on experience in Embedded Software Development using C/C++
