Launch Services Mission Manager

impulso.space

Impulso.Space puts satellites into orbit. We build and run rideshare missions: we bring together payloads from several customers on a single flight, integrate them and see them through to orbital deployment, working with the leading international launch providers. We are an Italian company with a US subsidiary.

You will take ownership of Mission Management for our upcoming missions. This is not a support role: you will be the point of contact between our customers, the launch provider and our team.

Day-to-day work is fully remote: we don't expect you in the office every day.

You will travel for launch campaigns — the moment when the satellite is prepared, integrated and handed over to the launch vehicle, and where a mission is won or lost.

THE ROLE AT A GLANCE

- Contract: permanent, tempo pieno — Italian CCNL Metalmeccanico Industria
- Salary: gross annual salary (RAL) €38,000 – €45,000, based on experience
- Location: fully remote, with an indicative presence of two days a month at our operating site, currently in the province of Treviso, Italy
- Travel: our facility in Florida and the launch sites (Vandenberg SFB, Cape Canaveral), with the possibility of campaigns at other international sites — up to 2–4 consecutive weeks during a campaign
- Reports to: Chief Operating Officer
- Start date: Q4 2026

WHAT YOU WILL DO

Mission Management

- You will be the single point of contact for the customers you follow, from contract signature through to post-launch.
- You will drive the deliverable cycle towards the launch provider: ICD, mass properties, safety data package, Ground Operations Plan, Launch Campaign Daily Schedule.
- You will work on Nexus, the platform we built in-house to manage mission deliverables: revisions, approvals, notifications and full document history in one place, shared with the customer. No more email chains to work out which version of a document is the good one.
- You will plan and run mission reviews with customers and providers, keeping the integrated mission schedule and the open actions matrix up to date.
- You will handle RIDs (Review Item Discrepancy) and technical comments between customer, Impulso and provider, keeping confidential information separated between customers.
- You will follow the launch campaign from start to finish: preparation and integration at our facility, then integration at the launch site, and all the documentation that goes with it.

Mission engineering

- You will analyse the mechanical and electrical interfaces between satellite, deployer and launch vehicle: fastening patterns, connectors, breakwire harness, separation switches, separation springs.
- You will verify mass properties, centre of gravity, reference systems and payload orientation with respect to the launch vehicle reference frame.
- You will contribute to defining and reviewing integration and stowage procedures and functional tests on the separation system.

CAD, stacking and fit checks
- You will build 3D CAD models of support structures, deployers and payloads, assembling the complete mission configuration.
- You will define and optimise the stacking configuration on the launch vehicle: envelopes, clearances, accessibility, mass balancing, deployment sequence.
- You will run virtual fit checks on the assemblies, and prepare, run and document the physical ones at our facility.

Shipping and export control

- You will organise international shipments of space hardware and GSE between Italy, the United States and customer sites: freight forwarder, packaging, tracking, transport insurance.
- You will handle customs and export control documentation (EAR/ITAR classification, licences, ATA carnet) and dangerous goods requirements.

REQUIREMENTS

- MSc in Aerospace and Astronautical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (Italian degree classes LM-20 / LM-33, or equivalent).
- At least 3 years in the space sector, as a Mission Manager, Launch Services Engineer or Spacecraft Systems Engineer, with at least two missions followed through to launch. We are also interested if you have 2 years and a single mission, provided you fully owned either a customer or a subsystem all the way to flight.
- If you come from systems engineering and have never owned the customer relationship directly, that's fine with us: that part you can learn here.
- Excellent written and spoken Italian (C1 or equivalent): it is the working language with suppliers, freight forwarders,

customs and Italian authorities.
- Fluent written and spoken English: the language you will use every day with customers and launch providers.
- Command of a professional 3D CAD package (CATIA, NX, Creo, SolidWorks or equivalent), able to build assemblies and check interferences independently.
- Availability for frequent international travel, with stays of up to 2–4 consecutive weeks during campaigns.
- Self-organisation: you will work remotely, within a team split between Italy and Florida.
- Availability to reach our operating site, currently in the province of Treviso, roughly two days a month.
- Right to work in Italy.

NOT REQUIRED, BUT IT HELPS
- Direct experience on SpaceX rideshare missions (Transporter or Bandwagon) and familiarity with their documentation templates.
- Working knowledge of EAR/ITAR export control and IATA dangerous goods regulations.
- Experience with AIT activities in a cleanroom and with GSE.
- Knowledge of the main commercially available deployers and separation systems and their interface manuals.
- Familiarity with Incoterms and international logistics of high-value goods.

HOW WE WORK In this role, the document you deliver is the product. It takes rigour, the ability to run several customers with different needs in parallel without letting anything leak from one to another, and the understanding that campaign dates do not move.

WHAT WE OFFER

- The role starts fully remote from Italy. No daily commute and broad autonomy over your day, within contact hours we agree together. Once our new operating site opens, on-site presence may become more frequent: we will discuss this openly during the interview.
- Travel fully covered. Flights, accommodation, per diem and international health insurance for launch campaigns. We also take care of obtaining and paying for the visa required.
- Permanent, full-time contract with Impulso.Space S.r.l., gross annual salary €38,000 – €45,000 based on experience.
- Meal vouchers, fringe benefits and a training and certification budget.

Personal data in your application is processed solely for selection purposes under Articles 13 and 14 of Regulation (EU) 2016/679 and retained for 12 months from receipt.
