/p pThe Packaging RD Laboratory Technician supports the development, validation, and standardization of packaging solutions by performing laboratory tests, simulations and evaluations on packaging materials and systems.
The role ensures that packaging concepts, materials, and technologies comply with internal standards, regulatory requirements, and performance criteria, contributing to innovation, quality, and sustainability objectives.
The role also includes the management and maintenance of the packaging RD laboratory, SOP and technical documentation of equipment and calibration schedules.
/p h3Key Responsibilities And Activities /h3 ul liConduct laboratory tests on primary, secondary, and tertiary packaging materials (e.g. plastics, paperboard, glass, metals, laminates) /li liExecute standard and non-standard test methods (e.g. mechanical, barrier, physical, functional testing) according to internal procedures and international standards /li liPrepare samples, prototypes, and test setups to support RD projects, standards development, and technology evaluations /li liSupport packaging trials, pilot tests, and comparative evaluations of materials and suppliers /li liSupport the development, maintenance, and validation of global packaging standards and specifications /li liSupport project teams by providing timely technical testing support /li liAssist in evaluating new packaging technologies, materials, and testing methodologies /li liEnsure test methods and laboratory activities are aligned with internal standards, industry norms, and regulatory frameworks /li liContribute data and technical input to standards documentation, technical guidelines, and best practices /li liAccurately record test conditions, results, and observations in laboratory systems and reports /li liAnalyse test results and prepare clear technical summaries and data packages for RD stakeholders /li liMaintain traceability and consistency of test data to support decision-making and audits /li liMaintain laboratory equipment, ensuring proper calibration, maintenance, and readiness /li liSupport continuous improvement of laboratory processes, test methods, and workflows /li liEnsure compliance with laboratory safety rules,



quality systems, and good laboratory practices (GLP) /li liManage laboratory consumables and support inventory control related to testing activities /li liMaintains active relationships and technical alignment with packaging laboratories across the organization, promoting consistency and knowledge sharing /li liContribute to the operational and development overview of the Technical Specification repository platform, including managing massive uploads, consistent changes, integration of missing parameters, and other required technical tasks /li /ul h3Key Relationships /h3 h3Internal /h3 ul liPackaging RD Teams /li liQuality and Regulatory functions /li liSupervisors and Managers of Supply Chain /li liGlobal Procurement /li liGlobal Operations and Manufacturing functions /li liProduction Plants Quality and Packaging personnel /li liOthe Regions Packingbr/RD Laboratory technicians /li /ul h3External /h3 ul liSuppliers /li liCo-manufacturers /li liThird-Party Laboratories /li liResearch Centres /li /ul h3Experience Required /h3 p2–5 years of experience in a packaging, materials, or industrial laboratory environment (RD or quality).
Experience with laboratory testing equipment and standardized test methods is preferred.
/p h3Education / Professional Qualifications /h3 ul liTechnical Diploma or associate degree in one of the following fields: Packaging Technology, Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing or Process Technology /li liBachelor's Degree (BSc) in Packaging Engineering or Packaging Science, Materials Science, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering /li liTraining: Formal training in laboratory testing methods; Training or certifications related to Sustainability and environmental impact of packaging /li /ul h3Skills /h3 ul liTeam working (i.e. ability to work with others across all boundaries to reach common objectives) /li liAbility to work effectively in cross-functional and international teams /li liStrong attention to detail and data accuracy /li liStructured and methodical approach to laboratory work /li liAble to work within a lab environment and operate typical laboratory equipment /li liAbility to execute prototyping through different digital equipment like 3D printers and plotters.
FEM analysis tools are a plus for the role /li liGood communication skills, both written and verbal /li liGood knowledge of English (spoken and written)



in a technical/business environment.
