Job Description Role Snapshot You’ll engineer the electronics architecture and hardware for space robotic platforms within Fluid Wire Robotics’ Space Division. You’ll enable the in-orbit demonstration of Fluid Wire technology in 2028 , integrating payload electronics with spacecraft systems for IOD, servicing, and debris removal missions. You’ll work on site in Pisa, Italy , hands on with robotic hardware and test assets to turn concepts into flight-ready systems. Your work will be central to system reliability, qualification, and mission success .
Key Responsibilities Define and own the electronics architecture for robotic payloads, from concept to flight-like implementation
Design schematics and multilayer PCBs , prototype, and validate through bring-up, bench testing, and iteration
Develop power electronics and analog signal conditioning with a focus on reliability, noise performance, and safety
Select space-suitable components , document derating and reliability rationale, and plan for procurement and obsolescence
Lead integration with spacecraft systems , interfaces, and GSE, coordinating with external partners as needed
Plan, execute, and document verification and validation , including environmental testing readiness and compliance to relevant standards
What You Bring Technical Toolkit
PCB design and EDA tools, Altium Designer or similar
Analog signal conditioning , filtering, grounding, EMC practices
Component selection for space or harsh environments
Modeling and analysis tools, Matlab Simulink
Professional Experience
Deliver electronics from architecture through prototype, test, and iteration , 2+ years including academic research
Collaborate with mechanical, software, and automation teams to achieve system integration
Produce rigorous documentation , test plans, and traceability aligned to mission requirements
Communicate clearly with external stakeholders for interfaces, test campaigns, and reviews
Nice to have
Space electronics background, radiation and environmental considerations, ECSS familiarity
Robotics or automation experience in extreme environments
Basic embedded programming for bring-up and hardware testing
Languages English - C1 (must have)
Italian - C1 (must have)
Professional training and education free of charge and within working hours
