The School of Mathematics and Statistics currently has more than eighty continuing academic staff and more than thirty research staff as well as visiting academics. UNSW is the only university in Australia to be ranked in the top 100 in the world in mathematics and statistics by CWTS Leiden, US News and QS. The School embodies a broad range of research interests in the areas of applied and pure mathematics, and statistics.

UNSW’s Education Focussed roles (EF) enable academics to specialise in education and devote their time to delivering high-quality teaching and pursuing initiatives to enhance the educational experience of our students.

The School of Mathematics & Statistics EF staff are expected to successfully drive educational excellence within the university’s teaching and learning communities.

The Lecturer - EF (level B) carries out teaching and other scholarly activities associated with mathematics and statistics education in the School. The School’s undergraduate and postgraduate programs cover a wide spectrum of courses in Applied Mathematics, Pure Mathematics, and Statistics mirroring the School’s strong research programs. It has particular strengths in Algebra, Analysis, Combinatorics, Geometry, Mathematical Physics and Number Theory, Bayesian and Monte Carlo Methods, Mathematical Modelling and Biomathematics, Quantum Mathematics, Biostatistics and Ecology, Computational Mathematics, Data Science, Dynamical Systems and Integrability, Finance and Risk Analysis, Nonparametric Statistics, Fluid Dynamics and Ocean and Atmospheric Sciences, Optimisation, Stochastic Analysis, Stochas
