The Detention Officer is responsible to ensure the safety and security of detainees in custody, acting in accordance with the highest ethical standards at all times, and ensuring a spirit of fairness and integrity in the on-going execution of their duties.



Detention Officers for the Florence Service Processing Center are assigned to unarmed posts inside the detention facility and are directly responsible for the supervision and movement of detainees within the facility secure perimeter.

Responsibilities

Conducts a security and sanitation check of the area prior to relieving the outgoing officer.
Inventory all equipment and notate the results in the logbook.
Receives all authorized equipment and ensure that it is in proper working condition.
Ensures that your communication radio is in good working order with a fully charged battery.
Performs duties related to the detention, processing, safeguarding, security, and escort of detainees as required in the contract.
Exercises surveillance and control over detainees and maintains order and discipline.
Attends to housing, feeding, and the physical well-being of detainees, 24 hours a day.
