Position located in Sydney, NSW, Australia. Lecturer – Education Focused – Skills in Science.
Work type: Tempo pieno. Salary: Level B (AUD 127,000 – 150,000) + 17% superannuation and annual leave loading.
Term: Fixed‐term to 31 December 2026. Hours: Full‐time (35 hours per week).
About the School
The School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences is part of the Faculty of Science at the University of New South Wales, comprising over 150 academic, research and professional staff. It offers programmes in Earth Science, Environmental Science, Physical Geography, Climate Science, Evolutionary Biology, Ecology and Marine Science.
Key Skills and Teaching Focus
Principles and practices of scientific inquiry, including hypothesis development, experimental design and evidence‐based reasoning.
Interdisciplinary approaches to complex, real‐world scientific challenges (e.g. climate change, public health, emerging technologies).
Research methodologies, data analysis and interpretation in collaborative, project‐based environments.




Role of science in society – ethical considerations, societal impacts and communication of scientific ideas to diverse audiences.
Specific Responsibilities
Develop and articulate a clear teaching philosophy that fosters student learning.
Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses, assess student performance and provide support in line with UNSW policy.
Design learning activities, resources, assessment and feedback using suitable approaches and learning environments.
Support individual student progress through one‐to‐one consultation, advice on Educational Learning Plans (ELPs) and inclusive teaching practices that align with Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) principles.
Assist with course administration, including academic quality assurance.
Adhere to all health and safety policies and procedures of the university.
Act according to UNSW Values in Action and the UNSW Code of Conduct.
