Purpose of the PositionAs a Senior Software Engineer, you will be part of a cross-functional, service-oriented team, working on extending and maintaining our Affiliate Marketing platform. You design and build reliable services by writing clean, secure, and well-tested code, following modern engineering best practices.In this role, you have a significant impact on system efficiency, technical quality, and team effectiveness. You take ownership of meaningful challenges, balancing technical excellence with sustainable product and business needs, and contribute to a collaborative, agile way of working.The TeamYou’ll join our Billing & Payments tribe, owning a core domain of the business: how customers are billed and partners get paid. Our engineering culture values pragmatic solutions, automation, strong ownership, and continuous improvement supported by open feedback loops.We are moving towards a cloud‑first architecture with a strong focus on AWS, working with technologies such as Java/Spring, AWS Lambda, Node.js, Kafka, SQL/NoSQL databases, and more.Key TasksWork within a small, collaborative team using agile methodologies and practicesTake ownership of applications across the full lifecycle, from design and implementation to operationProactively identify improvement opportunities and technical risks, helping shape technical directionSolve real business problems by translating requirements into scalable technical solutionsSupport an effective agile way of working by helping facilitate team ceremonies and workshopsMentor engineers through code reviews, knowledge sharing, and day-to-day collaborationTroubleshoot and resolve production issues, ensuring service reliability and operational stabilityCommunicate effectively in writing and verbally with local and remote colleagues and stakeholdersWhilst the above outlines the general expectations of the role, we expect this position to evolve over time,
offering opportunities to gain deeper knowledge and experience within the online and affiliate marketing domain.Skills & Expertise6+ years of professional software engineering experienceStrong foundation in OOP and comfort working with multiple programming languages, ideally incl. Java/SpringPassion for clean, maintainable code with a strong understanding of SOLID principlesHands-on experience designing AWS-based systems, microservices with REST APIs, and event-driven architecturesFocus on engineering quality through code reviews, testing, and test strategy improvementResponsibility for maintaining CI/CD pipelines for reliable, automated software deliveryConfident use of Git or similar version control systems in a collaborative environmentSolid understanding of relational databases, data modelling, and SQLFamiliarity with non-relational databases like DynamoDB, MongoDBBasic knowledge of web technologies and modern frontend frameworks, ideally AngularProven collaboration in cross-functional teams with Product, UX, and Agile rolesExtensive exposure to agile processes, particularly ScrumInterest in and practical use of AI tools to augment software developmentExperience with financial or billing-related systems is a plusBasic experience building Node.js services using JavaScript or TypeScript is beneficialOur OfferFlexi-Week: We prioritise your mental health and wellbeing by offering you a four-day Flexi-Week (with one lighter or completely disconnected day per week) at full pay, with no reduction to your annual holiday allowance.Flexi-office:
