Position
Design Engineer – Internal Combustion Engine
The Design Engineer – Internal Combustion Engine is responsible for the design and development of mechanical components and systems dedicated to internal combustion engines and powertrain applications, ensuring compliance with technical, regulatory, and performance requirements.
The role covers the entire product development cycle, from concept phase to production, contributing to the optimization of design solutions in terms of reliability, efficiency, performance, and industrialization.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop 2D/3D models and technical drawings of internal combustion engine components and powertrain systems;
- Define technical specifications and project requirements in collaboration with Engineering teams;
- Design and optimize engine mechanical components (e.g., structural components, intake/exhaust systems, moving components);
- Perform basic engineering analyses (sizing,
tolerances, material selection);
- Support development activities related to engine performance, reliability, and durability;
- Ensure product manufacturability in collaboration with Manufacturing Engineering;
- Support simulation and technical verification activities (FEA, CFD, and thermal analyses where applicable);
- Manage design changes and product configuration;
- Participate in internal and external design reviews;
- Support prototyping, testing, and product validation activities;
- Contribute to product cost, weight, and performance optimization.
Requirements
Technical:
- Mechanical, Mechatronic or Vehicle Engineering Degree
- Experience or knowledge in the design of mechanical components for internal combustion engines or powertrain systems;
- Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD design software (e.g. CREO, CATIA, Siemens NX, SolidWorks, or equivalent).
- Knowledge of materials and manufacturing processes.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and GD&T.;
- Basic knowledge of structural and/or thermal analysis (FEA is optional but preferred).
- Knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
