Offer Description

The research programme involves the development and validation of advanced numerical models for the structural and seismic vulnerability assessment of masonry structures, with particular focus on historic heritage buildings (bridges, churches, vaults, towers). The models will be developed within the framework of the Distinct Element Method and validated against experimental data available in the literature or produced through dedicated testing campaigns. The validated models will serve as a tool to evaluate the effectiveness of both established and innovative strengthening techniques, as well as to calibrate simplified modelling approaches that are computationally efficient and applicable in professional practice. The expected outcomes aim to contribute to the update of technical standards and to improve professional practice in the seismic assessment and retrofitting of existing masonry structures.

degree obtained no more than six years previously are eligible to participate in the selection process. These degrees must be relevant to the subject of the research activity.
