**APPLICATION CLOSING DATE**:March 23rd 2025** Human Technopole (HT) is a life science research institute, created and supported by the Italian Government with the aim of developing innovative strategies to improve human health. HT focuses on seven main research areas: Computational Biology, Genomics, Health Data Science, Neurogenomics, Structural Biology, Molecular Cell Biology, and Biophysical Modelling and Simulation. HT scientists work together to enable interdisciplinary research and promote an open, collaborative environment to help advance life science research nationally and internationally. Human Technopole is seeking an **Ethics Manager** to join the Strategy and Scientific Afairs Department. The Ethics Manager will support HT’s activities with integrated ethical and regulatory expertise, with a special focus on procedures for releasing official ethical clearances for biomedical research projects. (S)he will act as the central point of contact for ethics at HT, including being responsible for research ethics governance, supporting the relevant internal committees and providing an ethics risk and assurance function. **Your main tasks and responsibilities**
- Provide ethics counselling to HT scientists, carrying out the ethical monitoring and supervision of research projects performed within and in collaboration with HT;
- Identify and define with HT researchers the ethical and regulatory issues relevant to each project and implement the necessary actions to address them;
- Liaise with other HT offices as needed (e.g. Grants Office, Scientific Partnerships and Collaborations, Legal Office) to ensure that ethics components are adequately implemented in the relevant projects;
- Support the function of the HT Research Ethics Committee (REC) by constituting its Secretariat;
- Provide instructions,



aid and guidance to HT reseachers for submitting requests for ethical clearance by the HT REC;
- Liaise with the relevant ethics and regulatory bodies (e.g. Ethics Committees, Institute Review Boards, Committees for Animal Welfare, Data Protection Officer) of collaborating institutions to complete processes of ethical clearances and/or provide ethics advice;
- Follow HT research projects throughout their approval by the relevant bodies (within and outside HT) and monitor compliance throughout their lifetime;
- Fulfill regulatory requirements (e.g. registration of human cell lines or data in public repositories, etc.);
- Draft reports on ethics and regulatory aspects;
- Drive the development of initiatives, documents, internal rules, guidelines, and ethics toolkits on relevant issues pertaining to HT activities;
- Help define the ethical requirements related to the use of HT infrastructure by external users of the National Facilities and/or check the relevant documentation to ensure the projects’ ethics compliance;
- Promote and carry out, in collaboration with other parts of HT, educational and training activities for HT personnel on matters of research ethics and research integrity. **Essential Requirements**
- University degree in ethics, bioethics, healthcare law, philosophy, law, life sciences, public health or other relevant field;




- 5+ years of experience in bioethics or research ethics in an academic and/or healthcare setting;
- Advanced knowledge in the fields of bioethics and bio-law with reference to biomedical research and enabling technologies, including specific knowledge of the relevant policies and regulatory requirements, standards and best practices;
- Sound knowledge of the ethical, legal and societal implications of genetics/genomics;
- Good understanding of the research aims and objectives of a leading biomedical research institute;
- Fluency in English. **Preferred Requirements**
- PhD degree;
- Prior experience in a research support role;
- Prior experience of servicing high-level committees and producing accurate documentation;
- Prior experience working in an international setting;
- Prior experience working on the ethical/societal aspects of data-intensive biomedicine and artificial intelligence. **Organisational and Social Skills**

- High level of accuracy and strong attention to detail;
- Excellent negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to work independently, managing multiple and changing priorities;
