The terminal, located in the heart of the Adriatic, is to accommodate growing demand and to become the future interchange platform between sea and rail on the intersection of Baltic, Adriatic and Mediterranean railway.

/p h3Purpose of the job /h3 pThe Senior PMO will be responsible for establishing and maintaining a robust project governance framework and continuous improvement, ensuring transparency, alignment, and effective delivery across all projects including operational, engineering, digital, and transformation initiatives.
/p h3Project Portfolio Governance /h3 ul liDefine, implement, and oversee an efficient governance model for the full projects portfolio.
/li liSupport the team in piloting and executing projects in line with strategic direction.
/li liEnsure visibility, prioritization, and alignment across projects (OPS, TECH, IT, HSSE, Commercial).
/li /ul h3Project Methodology Standards /h3 ul liDefine, formalise and take over project management methodologies, processes, workflows, and documentation standards (project charters, RAID logs, KPIs, status reports) in coordination with Business team, Expansion team and HIG.
/li liAct as the internal reference for project management best practices.
/li liEnsure rigorous project planning, tracking, and reporting, including milestones, resources, interdependencies, and risks.
/li /ul h3Risk Performance Tracking /h3 ul liMonitor project performance KPIs, risk exposure, critical path, and overall delivery progress.
/li liPrepare and distribute dashboards and management reports to support arbitration and escalation.
/li /ul h3Operational Coordination Stakeholder Management /h3 ul liCoordinate project execution with internal departments and external partners.
/li liEnsure alignment between resources, timelines, and strategic objectives.
/li liSupport project owners, ensuring accountability, follow?up, and operational readiness.
/li liMaintain effective communication across all stakeholders.
/li /ul h3Continuous Improvement /h3 ul liIdentify improvement opportunities in project execution, structure, and reporting.
/li liDrive consistency, transparency, and efficiency in processes and methodologies.
/li liPromote a culture of structured planning and disciplined execution.
/li /ul h3Key Performance Measures /h3 ul liConsistency and efficiency of the Projects Portfolio governance.
/li liTimely delivery of key milestones across strategic projects.
/li liQuality and reliability of reporting, dashboards, and KPIs.
/li liEffective risk and issue management.
/li liAccuracy of planning, resource coordination, and financial tracking.
/li liStakeholder satisfaction and cross?functional alignment.
/li /ul h3Education Experience /h3 ul liMinimum 7–10 years in PMO, program management, or management of large interdisciplinary projects, preferably in an asset?heavy, industrial, production, infrastructure, or logistics environment.
/li liExperience working in complex matrix organizations (international is a strong asset).
/li liExperience in transformation, digitalisation, or engineering/infrastructure projects is preferred.
/li liExperience and knowledge of Ports and/or Logistics.
/li /ul h3Technical Skills Knowledge Required /h3 ul liStrong competence in project management methodologies.
/li liPrior PMO experience strongly preferred; project management experience required.
/li liExcellent knowledge of planning, milestones, RAID management, and governance frameworks.
/li liProficiency in project tools (MS Project, Power BI, Excel, SharePoint, Confluence, Jira, BPM tools).
/li liFamiliarity with port?terminal operations (Gate/Yard/Rail/Vessel), engineering, infrastructure, or TOS systems is an advantage.

/li /ul h3Language Requirements /h3 ul liFluent spoken and written Italian – preferable.
/li liFluent spoken and written English – mandatory.

/li liAvailability to relocate to Trieste at short notice (if not already resident).
/li liWillingness to occasionally travel within Italy and to HHLA International locations.
