ROMEThe role:The Sales Manager – Imaging & Photonics is responsible for driving revenue growth, developing strategic customer relationships, and expanding market share for Acal BFI’s imaging and photonics portfolio within Italy.
This role requires technical skills that enable you to work closely with the engineering team to develop new solutions tailored to specific customer needs, effectively bringing together technical expertise in sales, business development, and customer management within a value-added distribution model.
The successful candidate will lead the commercial strategy to grow the design funnel creation, managing and motivating a high-performing technical sales team, with direct report to the Country Manager.
Key Responsibilities: Sales & Business DevelopmentDevelop and execute a sales strategy for imaging and photonics solutions aligned with company objectivesIdentify, target, and win new customers in key sectors (defense, industrial, medical, scientific, etc.)Grow revenue within existing accounts through cross-selling and upselling value-added solutionsManage the full sales cycle from lead generation to closingAccount ManagementBuild long-term partnerships with OEMs, system integrators, and key accountsAct as a trusted advisor, understanding customer applications and technical requirementsMaintain regular engagement with strategic customers and stakeholdersSupplier & Product ManagementCollaborate with the Group Business Development Director to support the supplier strategy execution and to monitor and identify the emerging technologiesProvide market feedback to suppliers and internal teamsTechnical & Solution SellingTranslate customer requirements into tailored solutions using Acal BFI’s portfolioWork closely with FSE (Field Sales Engineers) and technical teamsPromote value-added services (design support, customization, integration)Pipeline & ForecastingMaintain accurate CRM records and sales forecastsBuild and manage a strong pipeline of opportunitiesReport on sales performance and market trendsProfessional offer:A key position within the local country leadership team with a direct impact on corporate strategyA dynamic, high-growth environment backed by an established, prestigious international groupHighly competitive compensation package commensurate with experience, Gross Annual Salary from 70.000 to 80.000 based on seniority and experiencePerformance BonusCompany CarRequired specifications:Experience: Senior B2B solution/service sales and business development background within the electronics, optics, or high-tech components sector, experience in defense market is a plusTechnical Knowledge: Solid, specialized knowledge of Photonics & Imaging technologies is mandatoryLeadership: Proven ability to manage, motivate, and upskill technical sales teams (experience managing technical sales engineers or technical specialists is highly valued)Track Record: Tangible history of driving top-line revenue growth, improving results month-by-month, and managing complex, long-cycle sales pipelinesSupplier & Relationship Management: Proven experience interfacing with international principals/suppliers and managing high-level, multicultural business relationshipsMindset: Proactive networker, flexible and broadminded with a disciplined "can-do" attitude, comfortable working in a matrix organizationLanguages: Fluency in English and Italian (both written and spoken) is essential for interacting with Group leadership and international partners
