We're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer.
The Lara API team is at the heart of Translated's platform engineering.
We own and evolve the endpoints that power Lara, a Saa S product for AI-driven translation.
Our work directly shapes the experience of developers and businesses worldwide who rely on Lara to move their content across languages at scale.
If you care about writing clean, reliable backend code that real people and real integrations depend on, this is your team.
You'll work on meaningful problems: designing and shipping new API features, maintaining and evolving a microservices architecture on AWS, and integrating with AI and translation services to bring new capabilities to life.
You'll collaborate closely with other engineers,

contribute to technical decisions, and have real ownership of what you build, even as someone earlier in their career.
Responsibilities Design, build, and maintain backend microservices powering the Lara APIOwn features end-to-end, from technical design through to production Work with our My SQL database and Redis layer Integrate with external services that handle translation and AI features Participate in code reviews, both giving and receiving thoughtful feedback Write tests and take code quality seriously (without being dogmatic about it)Collaborate with teammates across engineering and product Write clear technical documentation that others can actually use Requirements+5 years of experience in backend software development Proficiency in Node.js with Type Script Good knowledge of SQL and relational databases (My SQL)Solid understanding of REST API design and server-side web application architecture Comfortable working with Docker and containerized environments Proficiency in Git and Git Hub-based workflows Enjoys owning problems end-to-end and will go out of their way to acquire whatever knowledge it takes to get the job done Excellent communication skills, able to discuss technical topics clearly with both technical and non-technical people Nice to Have Experience with AWS services, especially ECS, S3, SQS,
