Aladdins Cave: Assistant Buyer (Toys)We are delighted to share an exciting opportunity at Aladdins Cave. Reporting to the Managing Director (MD), the Assistant Buyer will support with product development, costing, negotiating & sourcing and overall running of their assigned department(s). This is a diverse role working in a fast-paced environment. Full training will be provided in all aspects of the role, and may suit an individual wishing a career change or a start in retail. The role is tempo pieno and the candidate will be required to work alternate Saturdays. In return we offer a competitive package and salary.
Core Duties
- Product selection, range planning, ordering and pricing of goods
- Helping to identify new suppliers, and negotiation of trade terms with those suppliers
- Supporting the management of stock
- Following protocol for dealing with deliveries and delivery discrepancies
- Driving and monitoring sales/turnover and profit
- Dealing with customer enquiries and orders
Working Closely With The Buyer And Supervisor(s) In
- ensuring the smooth running of the department
- organising a small team of staff
- merchandising effectively
- monitoring staff performance and conducting appraisals
Working Closely With The Senior Management Team In
- Organising and monitoring sales promotions
- Generating awareness through advertising (e.g. social media postings)
The Assistant Buyer would be expected to take an active role on the shop floor, leading by example and demonstrating sound interpersonal communication skills with both customers and staff.
The Assistant Buyer would also be expected to attend ongoing training courses where relevant (e.g. Management Skills, Health & Safety, First Aid etc). As a company we are committed to supporting our colleagues with their development, and fut
