Control Center System Engineer

In this role, you will drive the Control Center evolution within Hitachi Rail’s OCC, coordinating system integration and deliverables across signalling, SCADA, and telecoms in a safety-critical environment. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to ensure design, validation and commissioning align with project milestones, contributing to safer, more reliable rail operations. This is a hands‑on, multi‑disciplinary position based in Italy with a focus on delivering customer‑ready OCC solutions and managing interfaces across engineering, V&V;, and RAMS. You’ll help shape the design and deployment of critical rail control systems at scale.
- Manage the full lifecycle of the OCC Work Package from design to commissioning
- Plan and deliver activities in line with project milestones; monitor progress, costs and resources
- Report status, risks and performance to WPL, Project Engineer and Project Manager
- Coordinate engineering activities related to OCC systems: system integration, interfaces, architecture, configuration and validation
- Ensure integration and standardization of OCC technologies (Signalling, SCADA, GSM-R/FRMCS, power supply, trackside equipment)
- Support requirements management and traceability from identification to validation
- Support RAMS activities and safety case contributions
- Assist on‑site commissioning and entry‑into-service phases
- Ensure deliverables are ready for customer acceptance; act as primary OCC contact for the customer
- Interface with internal departments (Engineering, V&V;, Installation, Safety, RAMS)
- Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Electronic, Automation, Computer Science, or Transport Engineering)
- Knowledge of system integration and interface management
- Experience with Operation Control Center and Traffic Management Systems
- Problem‑solving in complex and safety‑critical environments
- Effective communication and stakeholder management
- Results‑oriented with delivery focus
- Languages: Fluent English; Italian or other
