Automation Engineer - Contract | Immediate Start - Italy Initial 3-month contract, with strong potential to extend to 6 months

We are recruiting on behalf of our client, who is looking for experienced Automation Engineers to join a fast-paced, multi-site automation programme across the UK and Europe.

You will work alongside the client’s in-house engineering and controls teams, supporting PLC code development, implementation, commissioning, testing and continuous improvement across a network of highly automated sites.

This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on Automation or Controls Engineer to join a high-performing team delivering complex, high-impact projects.

You will work on a site closest to you and remote support other locations.

Developing, testing and commissioning PLC code using Siemens TIA Portal
Supporting fault-finding and troubleshooting on live automated systems
Integrating and migrating code across Siemens TIA Portal versions




Supporting the deployment and commissioning of new automation projects
Acting as a key technical point of contact within a skilled team of contractors and permanent engineers
5+ years’ experience coding and commissioning in Siemens TIA
~ Strong working knowledge of Siemens TIA Portal (version 16 and above)
~ Experience troubleshooting complex issues across Controls, Fieldbus (Profinet, Profibus, ASi) and IT platforms
~ Strong project management, organisation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and teams
~ Good written and verbal English
~ Ability to work autonomously with minimal xrdbqlu supervision
~ Sound knowledge of machine safety regulations and safe working practices

Knowledge of the Ignition platform for building SCADA/HMI systems
Familiarity with SCADA and OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) concepts
Experience leading a change management process
