Southern Europe is an important growth area, with Italy seen as a particularly valuable market. The role suits a business developer who understands payments and wants to own new market growth with a clear commercial mandate.
About the Role
As Senior Sales / Business Development Manager - Southern Europe , you will generate new merchant pipeline and sell acquiring services across low-risk verticals. You will focus on building relationships with e-commerce businesses, platforms, PSPs, and merchant partners in Southern European markets. The role requires strong independence, structured CRM work, and the ability to translate merchant needs into practical payment solutions.
Responsibilities
- Build outbound pipeline across Southern Europe,
with a strong focus on qualified merchant opportunities;
- Sell card acquiring and payment processing services to low-risk verticals;
- Identify merchant pain points around approval rates, settlement, pricing, onboarding, risk, and local payment methods;
- Manage the full sales process from prospecting and qualification to proposal, negotiation, and closing;
- Develop relationships with merchants, e-commerce platforms, PSPs, and local payment ecosystem partners;
- Maintain accurate CRM records, forecasts, activity notes, and pipeline reporting;
- Work with internal onboarding, compliance, risk, and product teams to move deals forward;
- Track Southern European payment trends, competitor positioning, and local merchant expectations;
- Contribute market feedback that helps improve acquiring coverage and commercial positioning.
Requirements
- 3+ years of B2B sales or business development experience ;
- Background in payments
