Associate Program
In addition to the Summer Clerkship Program, McDowell Knight hires associates directly out of law school or as lateral hires. The firm focuses on academic excellence and interpersonal skills when evaluating potential associates.
We emphasize the importance of a keen intellect, sound judgment, and strong communication skills for the successful practice of law. Associate lawyers are mentored closely by senior partners, with a two‐way process that exposes newer associates to senior experience while keeping seasoned members engaged and current.
All young litigators attend the intensive week‐long Trial Academy presented by the International Association of Defense Counsel.
Recruitment and Benefits




Associates receive competitive first‐year compensation and have the opportunity to earn production‐based bonuses each year. After one year, associates may participate in a 401(k) program. Additional benefits include health insurance and monthly dues for a downtown luncheon/health club. The firm encourages active participation in bar activities and legal organizations.
