- Undertake regular site walks to assess actual progress against planned activities.
- Review project requirements, drawings, specifications and construction documentation to understand programme deliverables.
- Verify reported progress through QA/QC documentation, inspection records, sign-offs and completion forms.
- Ensure milestone completion is supported by appropriate site documentation and evidence.
- Identify programme delays, slippage, constraints and potential critical path impacts.
- Prepare regular progress reports, look-ahead programmes and schedule updates.
- Analyse planned versus actual progress and provide clear explanations for variances.
- Coordinate with construction managers, engineers,
subcontractors and project managers to obtain accurate progress information.
- Assist with the development and maintenance of recovery programmes where required.
- Track key project milestones, dependencies, interfaces and completion dates.
- Support the Project Manager and senior management with programme reporting and forecasting.
- Maintain accurate records of programme changes, progress updates and schedule revisions.
- Assist with identifying risks and opportunities that could impact project delivery.
- Ensure programme information is aligned with commercial, procurement, engineering and construction activities.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Project Planner / Planning Engineer within the construction industry.
- Strong working knowledge of Primavera P6 – minimum requirement.
- Previous experience working on large-scale construction, infrastructure, MEP or data centre projects.
- Good understanding of construction sequencing, project requirements and site activities.
- Previous site-based exposure with the ability to assess actual physical progress.
- Experience reviewing construction documentation and using it to validate programme progress.
- Ability to review QA/QC sign-offs, inspection records, completion forms and other project documentation to verify milestone completion.
- Strong understanding of project schedules, critical path, dependencies and progress measurement.
- Ability to challenge reported progress where it is not supported by physical completion or documentation.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
- Good attention to detail and ability to work with large amounts of project data.
- Ability to work effectively with construction, engineering, commercial and project management teams.
- Fluent or professional working English is required; Italian language skills would be advantageous.
Desirable Experience
- Previous experience on data centre projects, particularly hyperscale data centres.
- Experience working for a main contractor / general contractor.
- Experience working with hyperscale technology clients.
- Experience with progress measurement and earned value principles.
- Experience preparing recovery programmes and delay analysis.
- Knowledge of MEP, electrical, mechanical and civil construction activities.
- Experience working with subcontractor programmes and progress reporting.
What We Offer
- Initial 6-month contract with a strong view to becoming permanent.
- Opportunity to work on a major data centre project in Milan.
- Monday–Friday working schedule, 8 hours per day.
- Opportunity to work directly within an established Italian General Contractor environment.
- Long-term career opportunity subject to project performance and requirements.
- Exposure to a major hyperscale data centre construction programme.
Ideal Candidate The ideal candidate will be a hands-on P6 Planner who understands that effective planning goes beyond updating a Primavera schedule. They will be comfortable visiting site, speaking with construction teams, understanding what has physically been completed and checking supporting QA/QC and project documentation before confirming progress against key milestones. They should be confident challenging inaccurate progress reporting and translating site information into an accurate, commercially and operationally useful project programme.
