Our client is a leading specialist data centre main contractor delivering full turnkey solutions across Europe, including civil, structural, architectural, mechanical, electrical, and commissioning works.
With group turnover exceeding 1.5bn and a strong pipeline of secured projects over the next three years, they continue to expand within the mission-critical construction sector.
Due to ongoing growth, they are seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join the project delivery team on a major data centre development in Milan, Italy.
The Mechanical Engineer will support the delivery of complex mechanical systems on a large-scale, mission-critical data centre project, ensuring installations are completed safely, on programme, and to the highest quality standards.Key Responsibilities
- Support the installation, inspection, and commissioning of mechanical systems including HVAC, chilled water, pipework, ductwork, and fire protection systems.
- Review mechanical drawings, specifications, and technical submittals for compliance and constructability.
- Coordinate mechanical works with CSA and electrical teams to ensure seamless system integration.
- Monitor site progress and track mechanical activities against project milestones.
- Manage subcontractor performance, ensuring productivity, quality,
and safety standards are achieved.
- Assist in procurement activities, including technical reviews and material approvals.
- Participate in system walk-downs, pressure testing, flushing, balancing, and commissioning activities.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, Italian regulations, and relevant industry standards.
- Maintain accurate documentation including test packs, commissioning records, and as-built drawings.
- Promote Health & Safety best practices across all mechanical activities on site.Requirements
- Degree or trade qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 3–5 years' experience delivering mechanical works on large-scale construction projects.
- Previous experience on data centre, pharmaceutical, or other mission-critical projects is highly desirable.
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, chilled water systems, pumps, CRAC/CRAH units, and mechanical commissioning processes.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Proven experience coordinating subcontractors and managing works in line with programme schedules.
- Strong communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills.
