DEXAI – Artificial Ethics The role

DEXAI is looking for a Junior Researcher to contribute to our European research projects on AI governance, responsible AI, AI ethics, risk assessment, and the societal impacts of artificial intelligence.

The position is intended for researchers at the beginning of their career, and we also welcome applications from students who have not yet completed their degree.

You will work alongside more experienced researchers on scientific activities, Horizon Europe deliverables, literature and policy analysis, research methodologies, and the development of new project proposals.

What you would do

Depending on your background and interests, you may:

- contribute to literature reviews and state-of-the-art analyses;
- support qualitative and quantitative research activities;
- contribute to scientific and technical deliverables for Horizon Europe projects;
- analyse AI governance, ethics, regulatory, and socio-technical questions;
- support the design of surveys, case studies, assessment methodologies, and research protocols;
- contribute to papers, reports, and other scientific outputs;
- participate in project meetings, workshops, and activities with international research partners.

You will receive guidance from senior researchers, but we expect you to progressively take ownership of well-defined research tasks.

What we need

We do not require previous professional experience. If you have professional experience in Horizon projects, please apply to the Senior position.

We are looking for





- strong research and analytical skills;
- very good written English (C1 required);
- ability to read scientific literature and synthesise complex material clearly;
- interest in AI governance, responsible AI, AI ethics, or related socio-technical questions;
- reliability and attention to detail;
- willingness to learn and work across different disciplinary perspectives.

You may already hold a bachelor's or master's degree, be currently enrolled at university, or have developed equivalent skills through other forms of study or research. A completed university degree is not required. Relevant backgrounds include computer science, AI, philosophy, social sciences, law, economics, public policy, science and technology studies, and related disciplines.

Useful, not required

Experience or academic work related to any of the following is an advantage:

- AI governance or AI ethics;
- AI and health ethics;
- EU AI Act and technology regulation;
- responsible or trustworthy AI;
- empirical research methods;
- statistics or data analysis;
- academic writing;
- European research projects.

None of these is required.



Working arrangement The position is fully remote and deliberately flexible.

We can consider tempo parziale or full-time arrangements, including reduced commitments compatible with university studies or other research activities. We are more interested in finding strong people than in imposing a fixed employment percentage.

The exact scope of the role will be adapted to your experience, availability, and research interests.
