DESCRIPTION

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is growing rapidly, and we are looking for a Data Center Operations Manager to join our expanding Infrastructure Operations team in one of our sites in Milan.

We are currently expanding our infrastructure management team and are looking for proven technology managers with experience in people management, technical understanding, and the drive to take AWS Data Center Operations to the next level.

You have experience creating and devising strategies, mentoring people , sponsoring projects, and proposing technical solutions. You will manage teams in hardware and network diagnostics followed by physical repair and participate in an on-call rotation. You are willing to work autonomously and manage your teams effectively. Work prioritization, organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to react quickly are critical to being successful. In addition, you will create documentation, innovate solutions, participate in site-level project work, and fix complex problems within the Data Center Space. This team works in an environment that operates 24/7.

Key job responsibilities

- SAFETY

Follow and maintain the highest safety standards and diligently encourage a world-class safety culture. Own the safety initiatives and projects to foster a strong safety culture.

- DATA CENTER OPERATIONS (DCO)

You will guide a team of technical professionals to support this work, as well as frequent engagement in the following activities:

- Routinely review ticket queues for large events and act accordingly
- Manage and deliver mid-size projects
- Recommend, write, and oversee policies and procedures to meet industry best practices and the required Service Level Agreement (SLA)
- Manage a diverse and talented team of Data Center Technicians with varying skills, creates an inclusive environment
- Maintain the on-call schedule, and coordinate absence and vacations ensuring 24/7 operations
- Participate in on-call rotation for emergency and manages technical escalations
- Write and deliver performance reviews for staff
- Participates actively in hiring processes

The applicable collective agreement for this role is CBA for employees of Telecommunication Sector . The position is classified at level 6 or above, depending on the candidate’s skills, competences and experience.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

- Speak, write, and read fluently in English
- Direct people management experience and proven track record of success in delivering projects despite competing priorities and distractions
- Understanding of IT Operations and Service Management practices





PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

- Experience in program or project management
- Experience with Information Technology (IT) infrastructure domains such as compute server platforms, storage server platforms, server components, network devices, cabling best practices and IT service delivery principles and best practices
- Understanding of critical electrical, Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning (HVAC), control and Change Management Systems (CMS)
- Prior ownership of the operation of a mission-critical team or product

The minimum gross base salary for this position is listed below. The base salary listed corresponds to working on a full-time basis. For tempo parziale hours, the salary will be pro-rated.

Amazon reserves the right to offer a higher salary and/or level, depending on the candidate's skills, competencies, and experience. Amazon's package may include a sign on payment. In addition, the candidate may be eligible to participate in a restricted stock unit scheme operated independently by Amazon.com Inc. in USA.

Your recruiting team will share final salary and any restricted stock unit scheme if applicable, depending on skills and requirements.

In addition to statutory benefits, and those applicable to the relevant CBA, company supplementary benefits may apply subject to further terms.
