Siemens Energy
A Snapshot of Your Day
This role is being created to reinforce the Field Service Hub in Italy, adding an experienced Generator Commissioning Engineer to the Milan based unit.
At a customer project in a power plant somewhere in the world:
After the morning customer meeting, you go to the plant and commission various auxiliary systems of a large generator in order to start it and synchronize it with the power grid. For further optimization, you adjust control parameters and perform various tests on the generator. Any issues that arise are resolved independently or in collaboration with experts from our Engineering departments.
At the end of the day, you will feel proud and satisfied with what has been achieved, knowing that you have brought a power plant one step closer to completion and made an important contribution to supplying society with electricity.
How You’ll Make an Impact
- Mechanical commissioning of generators and their auxiliary systems – from individual components (pumps, motors, valves, etc.) through to the complete overall system, including final functional and acceptance tests.
- Performing condition assessments and electrical tests on generator components during maintenance outages.
- Analyzing customer issues and troubleshooting in collaboration with our Engineering departments.
- Preparing and carrying out tests to demonstrate operational readiness.
- Analyzing and optimizing implemented control logics.
- Preparing reports to document the condition of generators and ensure the required quality.
- Your office is the world — and our challenges are more exciting than any traditional office job.
The role will be assumed following an initial training period and a certification process, the duration of which will depend on demonstrated aptitudes and capabilities.
What You Bring
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering (Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Process Engineering, or a comparable field). Career starters are encouraged to apply; professional experience in the relevant work area is an advantage.
- Experience in the operation and maintenance of power plants, ideally Siemens Energy generators, is an advantage.
- Italian, English at least at B2 level.
- High flexibility and willingness to travel worldwide at short notice and for several months, with changing working hours. Up to 100% of working time is spent at customer sites.
- High level of independence, stress resilience, and sense of responsibility.
- Class B driving licence.
