Keysight is looking for a Wireless Protocol Software Engineer with strong 3GPP protocol expertise , focused on Layer 1 (L1) and Scheduler , to contribute to advanced 5G and pre‑6G wireless technology development. In this role, you will work close to standards and real implementations , translating evolving 3GPP specifications into robust, high‑performance software capabilities . You will contribute directly to early 6G pre‑standard implementations , shaping how next‑generation wireless systems are designed, validated, and deployed. This role operates in a multi‑site international engineering environment , at the intersection of standards, algorithms, and real‑world systems . Responsibilities
- Design and implement optimized software aligned with 5G L1 algorithms and protocols
- Develop and enhance UE and base station emulation
- Contribute to pre‑6G standards, following 3GPP evolution
- Translate evolving requirements (3GPP releases, operator acceptance needs, O‑RAN priorities) into clear software designs, test workflows, and reusable components
- Collaborate with cross‑functional experts (systems, RF, protocol, product, customers/partners) to reproduce field issues, debug complex behaviors, and deliver fixes with strong root‑cause discipline
Qualifications
- Expertise in 3GPP LTE / NR
- Focus on L1 protocols and Scheduler alogorithms
- C / C++
- Real‑time programming
- Software development and debugging
- Technical communication in English
- NVIDIA CUDA GPU programming (preferred)
- Experience with CI/CD, test frameworks, containers, and/or cloud‑based environments (preferred)
- Experience working in a multi‑site environment (preferred)
Salary Range (Italy): €27,230 – €45,380 gross annual CCNL: Terziario, Distribuzione e Servizi (CCNL Commercio) While posted at a specific level, this role may be filled at a different level based on the selected candidate’s experience and qualifications.
