We are looking for a talented Thermal and Fluid Systems Engineer to join our team specializing in Engineering in Milano, Lombardia, ItalyThis position follows a hybrid work model (60% on-site / 40% remote). For very strong candidates, we may consider a fully remote working arrangement from anywhere in Italy.In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:You will combine high-fidelity 3D CFD/kinetics with 1D system-level modelling to assess Aftertreatment system architectures and support design optimization.You will perform Chemical Kinetics modelling and conjugate heat transfer analysis to improve the performance and durability of critical Aftertreatment components.You will use thermal, fluid sciences and chemical kinetics to evaluate system and component performance, helping guide technical decisions that support advanced, efficient,
and environmentally responsible products.You will develop and apply 3D CFD/kinetics models and simulation workflows for current and future compression ignition and spark ignition engine technologies.You will investigate thermal-fluid product or technology issues, identify root causes, recommend corrective actions, and document results to support problem resolution.You will contribute to platform engineering development programs by helping fulfil open-loop and closed-loop Aftertreatment simulation requirements.You will strengthen analysis-led product development by improving modelling, simulation, testing, and data-analysis processes.You will collaborate with engineers, technical leaders, project teams, suppliers, and other stakeholders to deliver clear recommendations that support high-quality project decisions.Cummins is an equal opportunity employer.
