Senior Site Development Engineer – Milan, Italy Arup’s infrastructure team delivers multi‑disciplinary design services across public and private projects, primarily in the Science, Industry, Technology, Property, Healthcare, Social Infrastructure and Sport sectors. Working in a BIM‑focused environment, designs are constructed in Civil3D and Revit and coordinated through a common data environment.
Responsibilities Lead the design and delivery of site infrastructures for technically demanding projects in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
Act as project lead, manage service delivery and maintain direct interface with the client’s teams.
Liaise with clients from feasibility to completion to set and deliver design ambitions.
Define site surveys and testing required to acquire site‑specific data for design.
Develop the site infrastructure design through design stages, permitting and procurement processes.
Supervise civil construction works as part of the clerk‑of‑works team.
Participate in business development activities – client meetings,
bid documentation and business growth initiatives.
Mentor and develop colleagues, sharing knowledge to deliver high‑quality service.
Qualifications Degree in Civil Engineering.
Minimum 10 years’ experience within a consultancy environment.
Chartered professional status or in the process of gaining qualification.
Strong civil engineering technical design skills in surface water, foul water, energy, roads & carparks, earthworks, electrical and fibre utilities.
Experience in producing drawings, specifications and reports within time and budget constraints.
Knowledge of the Italian regulatory and planning framework and experience managing civil engineering projects through the planning process.
Ability to lead and manage the design process from conceptual layout to detailed design and construction.
