This is to advertise a position for an “incarico di ricerca” (research assignment) in Philosophy of Science at the Department of Philosophy and Cultural Heritage, Ca’ Foscari University of Venice , to work within the SCIPLU project, which I coordinate.

The aim of the position is to investigate scientific pluralism from a historical and philosophical perspective . Its primary objective is to analyze and suggest solutions to the contradictions that characterize some of the leading contemporary versions of pluralism and that undermine their effectiveness as a framework for science policy. In this study, the humanities and social sciences will play a central role, together with the idea that science consists of a plurality of distinct “styles” of thought and practice.

The position is aimed at researchers working in philosophy of science (broadly conceived) and offers the opportunity to join a lively and internationally oriented research environment.



The successful candidate will carry out their research within the TiPS (Trust in Philosophy and Science) Research Centre at Ca’ Foscari, participating in its seminars, workshops, and other research activities.

Applicants must have obtained their MA (or equivalent degree) no more than six years before the application deadline . This means that some early-career researchers who already hold a PhD may still be eligible.

- Gross salary : Euro 22.500,00 gross annual

Fluency in Italian language is not required.
