Glenair is a multinational company, excellence in the field of interconnection with avionics‐aerospace, land and maritime applications. We are looking for an Engineering Supervisor who can contribute to the growth of the company in the wiring department.
The Engineering Supervisor will be responsible for: Manage the department personnel during their design activities. Ensuring that specifications and deadlines are met. Identifying potential inefficiencies and suggesting possible improvements.
Implementing the procedures applicable to the Department. Participating in the process of selecting and on‐boarding new coworkers. Control and monitor the loading and flow of the work in the Design Engineering Department.
Ensure appropriate checks are carried out on all designs prior to final release to customers or production. Ensure that the department works within the guidelines of the company quality procedures. Liaise with customers and all other departments providing technical assistance and advice required.
Identify appropriate KPI's for the department and individuals. Work efficiently and conscientiously with all personnel and maintain a clean and safe working environment. Identify the training needs of the staff and make recommendations for appropriate training/development.
Provide effective engineering material science support into both the design and engineering function and the production process environments. Any other reasonable engineering activity or investigation or design request. Become familiar with the detailed procedures associated with design processes outlined in the company procedures.
Back up any information that is on any local drives and ensure that any project and business data is stored on an appropriate central server. Record and keep all relevant emails (sent or received) in a file structure that can be easily understood by a third party.
Check in and record any drawing/part data in the appropriate system and maintain the use of the correct part numbering systems.
Use any change control system that is appropriate to the work. Maintain both design and draft standards to any appropriate national or international system and always work within the company's approvals as appropriate. All the time strive to maintain a current knowledge of all relevant engineering technologies application and manufacturing process pertinent to all the product range.
Strive to identify, and report on, any value-added improvement to the design and production processes. Liaise with and provide support to all manufacturing departments, including the shop floor, in the implementation and commissioning of any product. This shall include direct assembly commissioning and or test / inspection work as required and the provision of jig tools and fixtures.
Attend as directed any appropriate vocational training, trade shows or other public events. Directly support the sales, purchasing or operations staff, as required, in their relations with customers and or suppliers. (this may include occasional travel). Training, experience and skills Technical bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or similar. 15 years of experience in a relevant engineering environment. 5 years'
experience in a supervisory or management role. Excellence in the use of personal computer and MS Office. Ability to draft reports and technical documents. Excellent knowledge of Solid Works. Excellent communication skills.
Ability to manage technical projects for product improvement and development of new products. Knowledge of the English language at C1 level minimum.
