About the districtthe syracuse city school district serves a diverse student body of about 19,000 students across 35 schools and programs. the district is undergoing a phase of innovation and transformation to ensure all students graduate ready for college and career.locationprint shop at bova, siracusa (sr).distinguishing features of the classthe work involves responsibility for the operation of offset printing presses, digital printers, copiers and associated equipment in the preparation of forms, letterheads, brochures, booklets and similar documents.typical work activitiesprepare plates by cleaning, drying, sensitizing metal plates and burning an image from a negative.operate an offset printing machine, attach and adjust plates, fill ink reservoirs, regulate ink flow and make adjustments to blankets, paper feed and other parts.inspect proofs for quality and adjust the machine until the work is satisfactory.clean, lubricate and perform minor repairs on equipment.maintain simple stock-control records of supplies needed for the duplicating process.operate various auxiliary machines (stapler, separator, collator, stitcher, folding machine, cutter,
etc.).operate high-volume digital print-copy machinery, load paper, run automatic collators and clear jams.restock supplies as needed and deliver finished jobs to various locations.full performance knowledge, skills, abilities and personal characteristicsgood knowledge of offset duplicating equipment operation.understanding of the limitations and characteristics of different masters (paper, aluminum).knowledge of papers, inks, chemicals and other supplies used in offset processes.skill in preparing and burning negatives on aluminum or paper plates.ability to maintain routine records and submit simple reports.ability to follow oral and written instructions.minimum qualificationscompletion of a specialized training course in printing, offset lithography or a similar field, orsix (6) months of work experience in the operation of offset duplicating equipment.working hoursfull-time, 40 hours per week, 12 months per year.salarystarting at $23.05 per hour (unit 9 contract).
