HORTICULTURE SUPERVISOR
Horticulture Supervisor – Northern Italy Sites
For our Rome office (Testaccio), we are looking for a Horticulture Supervisor responsible for overseeing our sites across Northern Italy.
This role will ensure compliance with the Commission’s horticultural standards while coordinating maintenance and development activities. The successful candidate will operate in a dynamic, international environment, playing a key role in linking operational activities, project delivery, and relationships with local stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
•Ensure compliance with the Commission’s horticultural standards across assigned sites
•Plan and carry out regular inspections at cemeteries and memorials, monitoring quality of works
•Coordinate and supervise maintenance activities, ensuring efficiency and operational consistency
•Manage maintenance contracts and relationships with suppliers and contractors, including contract negotiation
•Support the planning and delivery of redevelopment projects and structural interventions
•Collaborate with internal colleagues and stakeholders to ensure integrated site management
•Provide technical guidance and share expertise with the local team (gardeners)
•Contribute to budget planning and monitoring of activities
•Promote and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations
•Build and maintain relationships with local authorities, institutions, and partners to support the Commission’s activities
•Contribute to the organization of commemorative events and official ceremonies
Candidate Profile
Essential Requirements
•Degree in Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience
•At least 5 years of experience in managing horticultural operations and staff across multiple sites
•At least 5 years of experience in supplier and project management
•Strong organizational and planning skills
•Good interpersonal and communication skills
•Proficiency in English and Italian (minimum B2 level)
•Willingness to travel frequently and valid driving licence (Category B)
Desirable Qualifications
•Experience in international or multicultural environments
•Knowledge of sustainable landscape management and biodiversity
•Experience in redevelopment or restoration projects
