JHC Consulting is an independent advisory firm providing counsel to board committees and chief executives. We are a small practice that values the discipline of the written word over the convenience of conversation. We believe that writing is thinking, and our work focuses on strategic questions where an external challenge is necessary. For a current engagement, our partner is a leading Italian firm that requires a systematic review of their internal governance and decision-making structures. To support this mandate, we are adding a Junior Prompt Engineer to our remote team. This role is a full-time, permanent position designed for someone who understands how to use language models to assist in the synthesis and analysis of complex documents.
The Role
In this position, you will work closely with our principals to refine the way we use large language models in our research and drafting process. You will not be building software: you will be writing and testing the instructions that allow us to process large volumes of internal records and reports. Your day-to-day work involves:
Developing and refining prompts to extract specific logical arguments from internal corporate documents.
Testing different versions of instructions to ensure that the outputs are accurate, grounded in the source material, and free of typical model errors.
Creating a record of effective prompt structures that can be used across different stages of a client engagement.
Reviewing the outputs of language models against original texts to ensure no subtle misinterpretations have occurred.
Collaborating with our analysts to translate high-level strategic questions into precise queries for AI tools.
Documenting the logic behind each successful prompt to ensure our process remains transparent and repeatable.
Assisting in the summary of complex regulatory or financial reports into clear, plain English.
