Senior Python / Django Developer — Freelance (Full Remote) · via Shakers

We're partnering with a mission-driven international organization to scale an established platform (Django admin + React front end) supporting a large-scale, real-world project. You'll own back-end development, testing and performance — building software that runs reliably in challenging, low-bandwidth environments.

What you'll do

- Develop, test and debug back-end features; maintain near-total test coverage on the CI build server
- Run performance and stress testing to validate the system scales
- Optimize data models and database performance (Postgres, SQL/NoSQL)
- Deploy and maintain services on Kubernetes; conduct code reviews and keep docs to standard
- Advise on Python/Django best practices and support knowledge transfer to internal staff





What we're looking for

- 5–8 years building production Python/Django systems
- Hands-on Kubernetes deployment/maintenance, Docker, Git-based distributed workflows
- Database optimization experience (Postgres, SQL/NoSQL)
- Agile / CI-CD delivery and strong QA testing discipline
- Premio: experience delivering web solutions for low-bandwidth / constrained environments
- Fluent English (additional languages like italian a plus)
