The Laimburg Research Centre is the leading research institute for agriculture and food quality in South Tyrol (Italy). We operate mainly in applied research with the aim of increasing the competitiveness and sustainability of South Tyrolean agriculture and of ensuring the quality of agricultural products. For the research project BRIDGE "Exploring Bioactivity of Natural Compounds: From Encapsulation Strategies to Drug Discovery for Biomedical Targets", funded by Research Südtirol (call 2024), CUP H33 C26000290005, the working group "Laboratory of NMR Spectroscopy" at Laimburg Research Centre is looking for: Researcher - Code BR.26-NMR-02.22 The project aims to identify, characterize, and optimize bioactive compounds derived from apple and grape by-products, as well as elucidate their molecular mechanisms of action against protein aggregation associated with neurodegenerative diseases.
Your Responsibilities Expression, purification, and characterization of recombinant amyloidogenic proteins Development and application of NMR methods to study protein aggregation and protein–ligand interactions Screening of natural extracts, purified compounds, and encapsulated formulations as aggregation inhibitors using NMR spectroscopy and LC-MS Investigation of the molecular mechanisms underlying inhibition of amyloid formation Analysis of aggregation kinetics and biophysical data Preparation of scientific reports, publications, and presentations Collaboration with project partners in natural product chemistry, encapsulation technologies, and computational drug discovery Your Profile Completed university studies of at least three years attested by a diploma in chemistry, biotechnology,
natural sciences or similar Good knowledge of Italian or German (C1 level) language - to be evaluated during the interview Good knowledge of English (B2 level) - to be evaluated during the interview For this position, the following qualifications and competencies will be evaluated: Experience in solution NMR spectroscopy (including experimental setup, pulse sequence implementation, and NMR data analysis) Experience in data fitting, kinetic modelling, and the use of common computational tools for data analysis Knowledge in expression, purification, and characterization of recombinant amyloidogenic proteins Scholarships and research grants (please specify in your CV) in fields related to the position's research topics Participation in national and international conferences (please specify in your CV if this involved a stay abroad) Publication list with focus on organic chemistry, physical chemistry or chemistry of natural products Availability to start by November 1st, 2026 Good organizational and communication skills High motivation, ability to work independently, and strong team-working skills What We Offer An innovative work environment in a cutting-edge research center A supportive, appreciative team Flexible working hours and the possibility for lavoro da remoto Subsidized lunch Supplementary health fund...and much more!
