By embracing diversity, we believe science can achieve its fullest potential. **THE ROLE** You will be working in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary group, where junior and senior scientists collaborate, each with their expertise, to carry out a scientific activity with a shared research goal. The _Smart Bio-Interfaces_ Research Unit is coordinated by _Gianni Ciofani_. The research is developed in the field of smart nanomaterials for nanomedicine, bio/non-bio interactions,



and biology in altered gravity conditions; the Unit is located at the Center for Materials Interfaces (CMI, Pontedera, Pisa). CMI has fully equipped chemical, biological and microfabrication facilities, including clean rooms (class 1000 and class 10000), chemical laboratories, BSL2 biological laboratories, and equipment for molecular biology. Within the research team, your main responsibilities will be: - Development of microfluidic systems for _in vitro_ models
- Characterization, including finite element modeling
- Biological testing **ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS**
- A PhD in Bioengineering, Biotechnology, Materials Science, or similar disciplines, obtained in the past 2 years
- Documented experience in microfabrication (including photolithography, soft lithography, 2-photon polymerization)
- Strong publication record (in relation to the academic age)
- Good command of spoken and written English **ADDITIONAL SKILLS**
- Experience in cell cultures, cell biology, _in vitro_ testing
- Knowledge of modelling software (like COMSOL or ANSYS)
- Ability to work in a challenging and international environment
- Capacity to work autonomously and collaboratively in a highly interdisciplinary environment
- Possess Analytical Reasoning skills and a growth mindset **COMPENSATION PACKAGE**
- A yearly gross salary ranging between 30,000 Eur and 32,000 Euro
