Role: Therapeutic Youth Worker (Significant Disabilities)
Employment Type: Permanent and Casual
Location: Bronte
As a Therapeutic Youth Worker within our Intensive Therapeutic Care, you’ll be a key support for young people aged 12 to 17 years who’ve experienced childhood trauma, abuse, or neglect.
You will be part of a dedicated to team working to ensuring a safe, homelike environment where these young people can thrive, supporting them to learn independent life skills,
develop problem solving skills and to build appropriate and positive relationships with others.
This house is located at Bronte. There are two young people aged between 12 and 14 years old. Their interests include a passion for video editing, designing cartoon characters and developing an interest in basketball. Our other young person enjoys walking and swimming, so long as they feel supported in their environment. They also love listening to and watching music videos.
Our ideal candidates must have experience connecting with and supporting with young people who have received a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder and an intellectual disability. Exposure to or a willingness to learn communication facilitation strategies (such as key word signs and using visuals) is essential. In addition to this, performing personal care is a requirement of this role.
