⏰ Hours: Tempo pieno, async first. You need overlap with EST until noon so you can attend meetings. The rest of your day is yours to structure.

The role

You own the AI and automation layer that our accounting team runs on. You build it, you keep it running, and you decide what gets sunset and what gets brought in. You also own the process and documentation side, so the systems you build actually get used rather than sitting unopened.

The problems you will be solving are accounting problems. Month end workflows, client onboarding, reconciliation, reporting, and the manual work sitting between them. You will work closely with our founder, who currently builds most of this himself, with our Director of Accounting, who owns the delivery process you will be automating, and with our operations lead.
This is a hands on build role. You are writing code, designing schemas, and shipping things, not managing a team or writing strategy decks. Our current stack is built for speed, and part of the job is telling us where that stops being the right trade.

⭐ Must have

Backend engineering background. You are comfortable owning databases, schema design, data integrity, and security.
Production experience with LLM systems, not prototypes. You have shipped something real and maintained it afterwards.
Python and TypeScript
SQL and hands on experience with Postgres
A track record of building automations or agentic workflows that other people rely on daily
Strong written communication. A large part of this role is documentation.
English at B2 level or above, written and spoken. Our team and clients are North American.

✨ Nice to have
Supabase, BigQuery, or similar
Experience in fintech, insurtech, or another regulated data environment
Retrieval systems, including vector search, chunking strategy, and knowing when retrieval is the wrong answer
Evaluation frameworks. Knowing whether your system works, and catching it when a change makes it worse.
