Senior Forestry Officer (Forest Biodiversity and Drylands)In this role you will provide leadership and technical expertise to advance biodiversity and sustainable management of forests and drylands within multifunctional landscapes. You will support the FAO Strategic Framework through cross-divisional programmes, policy advice, and capacity development with Members and Decentralized Offices. You will drive evidence-based approaches, develop tools and frameworks, and represent FAO in international forums. This is a mission-driven position that shapes biodiversity mainstreaming and sustainable land management at global and national levels.Provide technical leadership and coordination for biodiversity mainstreaming in forestry and drylands across projects and cross-divisional initiativesAnalyze global and country needs to inform FAO Strategy, Programme of Work, budgets and resource plansDevelop and monitor innovative tools, methodologies, and monitoring/reporting frameworks for program implementationConduct and oversee research to support technical standards, international instruments,



and policy advisory servicesOffer technical and policy support to FAO Members and decentralized offices for program design and implementationLead capacity development and knowledge-sharing activities, including policy support, organizational learning, and learning toolsRepresent FAO at international meetings, build strategic partnerships, and negotiate stakeholder agreementsLead and/or participate in resource mobilization aligned with the FAO Strategic FrameworkProvide leadership to mainstream biodiversity in forestry and dryland landscapesCoordinate with FAO units to align biodiversity conservation with sustainable production goalsCoordinate inputs to CBD, KM-GBF, UNCCD and align with LDN targetsFoster strategic partnerships with institutions, NGOs, private sector and donorsOversee secretariat services to the COFO Working Group on Dryland Forests and Agrosilvopastoral SystemsMobilize an
