Quality Manager
About Ephos
Ephos is building vertically integrated, advanced packaging solutions on glass panels. We transform raw glass into electronic and optically active substrates for die-to-die connectivity, manufactured entirely within our own facilities. Our systems are built for companies developing AI accelerators, including hyperscalers and top-tier chip designers.
We have already delivered products to leading global firms, and we are currently building a new fabrication facility to scale production by 100x. This expansion is backed by a $50M EU CHIPS Act grant—the first ever awarded to a startup.
The role
We are seeking a Quality Manager as we set up a new manufacturing facility for our advanced packaging products. This role will help ensure that our products meet the highest standards for our customers and comply with relevant optoelectronic quality standards and certification programs. This person will develop the company’s quality policy, along with the business practices and processes needed to support this vision.
The role will also involve close collaboration with all levels of the organization, from fab operations and design engineering to finance and senior leadership. This is a key role in our organizational and manufacturing ramp-up and will help drive a strong quality mindset throughout the team.
Your responsibilities
- Develop and implement business practices for quality programs, including Process Change Control, Structured Problem Solving, routine business audits, employee certification, and other relevant processes.
- Train employees on quality standards, processes, and best practices.
- Achieve compliance with, and certification to, industry-standard quality programs as required by customers.
- Engage with customers to gather and incorporate feedback on product performance and quality expectations.
- Establish, monitor, and drive Quality KPIs, with a focus on reducing defectivity and increasing product value through improved quality performance.
- Engage across the organization in quality initiatives as the company grows, fostering a strong quality culture and making quality a way of life.
The candidate we are looking for
- BSc or MSc in Electrical, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering preferred. Significant hands-on experience operating a cleanroom facility and ancillary equipment, with demonstrated capability, will also be considered.
- 8+ years of experience in quality management within operations, preferably in the semiconductor or optoelectronics industry.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to interact with and influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Hands-on experience applying Lean and/or Six Sigma methodologies or leading data-driven process optimization projects.
- Moderate to advanced proficiency in statistical methods, including SPC, t-tests, ANOVA, and univariate and multivariate statistical modeling.
- Proficiency in quality problem-solving tools, including 5 Whys, segmentation, and Model-Based Problem Solving, as well as FMEAs, continuous improvement (CI) activities, management of change, and document control systems.
- Familiarity with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
- ISO 9001 or IATF 16949 Internal Auditor certification.
- Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification.
- Can commit to tempo pieno lab presence; due to the nature of the role we will not consider remote applicants.
- Ephos is a demanding environment. We operate with exceptional ambition and move fast, because the market gives us no other option. We expect excellence from you, as we do from one another. This environment offers unmatched opportunities to learn, build, and grow, but it also requires significant commitment.
