Head of Legal – Milan (Hybrid Working)

About the Company A leading renewable energy investment and development platform with a strong presence across Europe, focused on the development, construction, acquisition and operation of renewable energy projects. The business has an established track record across solar, wind and energy storage and continues to expand its portfolio across the Italian market.

The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced Head of Legal to lead the legal function in Italy, based in Milan. This is a senior, high-impact position offering the opportunity to work closely with the Italian leadership team and support the continued growth of the business and its renewable energy portfolio.

You will take ownership of legal matters across the full project lifecycle, providing strategic and commercially focused legal advice across development, M&A;, financing, construction and operations.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and manage all legal matters for the Italian business.
- Provide strategic and commercially focused legal advice to senior management and internal stakeholders.
- Advise on the development, acquisition, construction and operation of renewable energy projects.
- Lead negotiations and drafting of key commercial agreements, including EPC, O&M;, PPA, land, development, supply and JV agreements .
- Support M&A; transactions, project financing, refinancing and investment activities .
- Manage external counsel and coordinate legal support across complex transactions.




- Identify and mitigate legal, regulatory and commercial risks.
- Monitor relevant Italian and European energy legislation and regulatory developments.
- Support permitting, corporate governance and general corporate matters.
- Develop and implement legal processes, policies and best practices across the Italian business.

Requirements

- Qualified lawyer with significant post-qualification experience.
- Strong experience within the renewable energy, infrastructure, energy or project development sectors .
- Proven experience advising on complex commercial agreements, M&A; and/or project finance transactions.
- Strong understanding of the Italian energy and regulatory landscape.
- Experience working in-house or closely with an in-house legal function is highly desirable.
- Fluent Italian and English , both written and spoken.
- Strong commercial awareness with the ability to balance legal risk with business objectives.
- Excellent negotiation, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Comfortable operating autonomously while working closely with senior leadership.
