Our data team empowers decision-making across the business through operational and analytical databases, queue systems, BI tools, and data science technology. Role Overview
As an Engineering Manager, Backend/Data, you will lead a team of engineers to build and scale robust backend and data platforms that power critical products and services at Agoda. You will design distributed systems, data pipelines, and high‐throughput, low‐latency services with a focus on reliability, scalability, security, and operational excellence. The role supports fintech‐related platforms and transaction‐heavy systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead a high‐performing engineering team while staying hands‐on with coding, code reviews, and technical guidance.
- Coach engineers through technical problem‐solving, design discussions,



and day‐to‐day development.
- Architect scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems in a high‐traffic, data‐intensive environment.
- Drive engineering across backend services, infrastructure, performance, data, client‐facing systems, and fintech‐related platform capabilities.
- Own production systems, ensuring operational health, scalability, reliability, maintainability, and security.
- Shape engineering best practices across software design, architecture, testing, system operations, and secure engineering.
- Develop people through mentoring, feedback, and career growth support.
- Hire and scale strong engineering talent.
- Partner with cross‐functional stakeholders to deliver impactful business, product, and platform outcomes.
- Use data‐driven decision making to improve team effectiveness and delivery.
