/ph3The project: DVPS /h3pTranslated has been awarded funding for the DVPS project, a collaborative research initiative worth 29 million euros over 4 years, which will be led by Translated.
DVPS develops the science of multimodal foundation models and applies them to problems in the fields of Earth observation, language, and cardiology.
DVPS is an acronym for the project's motto, "Diversibus Viis Plurima Solvo", meaning "Through various paths, I solve many problems." /ppThe project has computing resources that match its ambition.
It is estimated to use 30 million GPU-hours provided by EuroHPC, operating on Europe's major Exascale and Petascale computing infrastructures.
/ppTo ensure maximum impact, all research outcomes of DVPS - including trained models, datasets, and evaluation benchmarks - will be released as open source on HuggingFace.
/ph3brResponsibilities /h3pYou will be part of a team of researchers dedicated to DVPS within Translated's AI Research team,
which works on several pieces of technology such as Large Language Models, machine translation, speech foundation models, privacy-preserving machine learning.
The AI Research team collaborates closely with product and engineering teams and develops the technology to power Translated's next generation of products.
/ppIn this role, you will: /pulliwork with data, compute and algorithms /lilidesign of deep learning multimodal neural architectures /lilidesign experiments, implement them in code, run them on large (GPU on HPC) compute, run evaluations /lilimonitor and benchmark the state of the art /lilihave the opportunity to give guidance to more junior team members such as PhD students and interns /lilicoordinate with our partners on our research roadmap /liliadapt the project's pace to the rapid scientific development in our field /liliorganize publications and open-sourcing efforts /li /ulh3brRequirements /h3ullicompleted PhD or 4 years of industry research experience in a relevant field of deep learning, machine learning, either applied (preferably language, clinical medicine, Earth observation, robotics, vision, audio); /liliexperience guiding junior researchers, defining a research project and experiments; /liliexcellent programming skills: Pytorch; /lilifamiliarity with Docker and Unix OS, including running GPU experiments; /liliinterest in carrying out experimental research; /lilirelevant scientific publications, teaching and research experience; /liliexcellent command of English.
/liliyou're strong in GPU training and inference optimization; /liliyou're a polyglot; /liliyou have open-source contributions; /liliyou have published at tier-1 ML/AI conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, ACL,
