The Clinical Trials Division (CTD) of the Pharma Services Group delivers end-to-end supply chain, packaging, and logistics solutions to support clinical studies worldwide. With the industry’s largest global footprint of FDA cGMP facilities and strategically located hubs, CTD ensures critical therapies reach patients quickly, reliably and compliantly. **Position Summary**:
Reporting to CTD’s Lead Counsel, the Director, Corporate Counsel will act as a senior legal advisor and strategic business partner, supporting the division’s operations globally. The role will lead legal support for designated regional sites and key business initiatives, with a strong focus on enabling CTD’s growth while responsibly handling risk. This role can be based in a remote location attached to any one of Thermo Fisher’s following Strategic Legal Hubs: US (Morrisville, North Carolina; Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania); UK (Glasgow); Italy (Milan) or Bulgaria (Sofia). **Key Responsibilities**: - Provide strategic legal advice across a broad range of legal issues, including commercial contracting, regulatory compliance, controlled substances, quality, and data privacy.
- Lead resolution of disputes, investigations, and regulatory inquiries with sound judgment and pragmatic solutions.
- Anticipate risks and shape practical solutions on critical legal and business issues to advance strategy.
- Serve as a trusted partner to the CTD Contracts team to shape transactions and provide strategic support on negotiations and critical issues.
- Partner with business leaders to drive global expansion, critical initiatives, service innovation, and cross-functional projects that support growth across regions.
- Build and mentor an impactful legal team, fostering inclusion, accountability, and professional growth.
- Serve as a leader within the broader Legal function, advancing initiatives and process improvements to enhance efficiency, compliance, and alignment with strategy. **Qualifications**: - Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctor required.
- Member in good standing of at least one U.S. state bar (or equivalent international qualification).
- Minimum of 8 years of legal practice, with significant in-house experience in life sciences, healthcare, or another highly regulated industry preferred.
- Expertise in commercial contracting, regulatory matters, and global operations.
- Ability to partner with senior leaders, balancing business growth with risk management.
- Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills, with a commitment to inclusion and team development.
- Practical, “doer” approach with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment and translate strategy into action.
- Growth-oriented perspective with a focus on continuous improvement and innovative problem solving.
- Proficient in spoken and written English
- Willingness to travel globally, approximately 10-15%.
