Role overview
The Technical Manager (Electrical) holds technical governance across all electrical scopes delivered in Italy.
The role sits above individual project teams, owning design review, installation standards, energisation readiness and subcontractor technical competence across the Italian portfolio.
It combines hands on electrical authority (LV and MV AP) with the regulatory knowledge required to deliver compliant installations under Italian construction and electrical legislation.
Key responsibilities
Technical governance
Act as the technical authority for all electrical works delivered on Italian projects.
Approve engineering methodologies, method statements and installation sequences prior to works commencing.
Provide technical support to the estimating team during tender and pre construction stages.
Own and run the technical lessons learned programme, feeding findings back into design and delivery standards.
Design and documentation review
Review IFC drawings, single line diagrams and technical submittals for compliance, buildability and coordination.
Interface with client design teams, consultants and independent commissioning agents.
Chair or attend client technical meetings, representing the business on all electrical matters.
Installation oversight
Oversee installation quality across cable containment, MV and LV installation, earthing and bonding, equipment installation and power distribution systems.
Carry out technical audits of works in progress and issue corrective actions where standards are not met.
Approve subcontractor technical competence and verify supporting documentation prior to appointment.
Testing,
commissioning and energisation
Carry out and sign off pre energisation inspections.
Witness testing and verify results against specification.
Review commissioning documentation packs (Level 1 to Level 5 as applicable).
Sign off energisation readiness and act as Authorised Person for LV and MV switching operations where required.
Compliance
Ensure all works comply with Italian construction legislation, CEI standards and the Italian electrical code.
Ensure compliance with D.Lgs ******* health and safety requirements.
Verify subcontractor compliance with construction CBA (Contratto Collettivo Nazionale) requirements.
Essential requirements
Education
Degree in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Power Engineering, or a Higher National Diploma supported by extensive data centre experience.
Fluent English, written and spoken.
Qualifications
LV Authorised Person qualification.
MV Authorised Person qualification.
Demonstrable experience of energisation procedures.
Proven competency in electrical testing and commissioning.
Experience
Minimum 10 years electrical installation experience.
Minimum 5 years within data centre environments (hyperscale, colocation or mission critical).
Track record of holding technical responsibility across multiple concurrent projects.
Knowledge
Italian construction legislation and permitting environment.
CEI standards, including CEI 64-8 and CEI *****.
Italian electrical code requirements.
D.Lgs *******.
Desirable
Italian language, written and spoken.
PES, PAV or PEI designation under CEI *****.
Experience delivering for hyperscale end clients.
Prior country level or multi project technical authority role.
Working knowledge of Uptime Institute Tier standards.
