Job overview the supply chain optimization specialist supports the global supply chain planning optimization (spo) network by designing, developing and improving mathematical optimization models that power planning tools such as scout and optimus. the role translates supply‑chain problems into scalable optimization formulations and ensures robust, high‑performing solutions for operational decision‑making.
Key responsibilities design, develop and maintain optimization models (e.g., network planning, routing, inventory positioning) for tools such as scout and optimus.
collaborate with data engineers and product developers to integrate models into production systems.




conduct scenario analysis and sensitivity testing to support decision‑making under uncertainty.
continuously improve solution approaches through model tuning, decomposition techniques and heuristics.
document model assumptions and limitations for transparency and reuse.
support rollout and configuration of analytical solutions to new wfp operations or partner sites.
develop dashboards, optimization tools and forecasting solutions using data transformation, visualization, statistics, machine learning and optimization algorithms.
engage with business owners, data owners and field users to understand requirements, data availability and kpis.
coordinate with wfp’s technology division to ensure compliance with corporate guidelines and adopt best practices.
prepare quantitative analyses to support operational and strategic decisions.
promote adoption of advanced analytics and strengthen client capacity.
