Role Overview
The Installation Survey Engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering survey activities that support the engineering and installation of submarine cable projects.
The role covers the full survey lifecycle, from scope definition and subcontractor management through to data review, reporting, and project close-out.
This position also contributes to route engineering, installation support, technical software development, and knowledge sharing within the Engineering Department.
The successful candidate will work closely with internal stakeholders, survey subcontractors, and project teams to ensure that survey deliverables are completed to the required quality, schedule, and budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and develop the survey scope of work in line with project requirements
- Manage survey subcontractors throughout the full survey lifecycle, including engineering, operational planning, mobilisation, offshore execution, on-site supervision when required, reporting, and charting
- Monitor survey quality, progress,
and costs to ensure alignment with project objectives
- Support cable route design and detailed engineering related to cable installation and protection
- Review, manage, and organize survey documentation and data for submission to the Employer or final Client
- Contribute to the overall performance and results of the Engineering Department through close cooperation with colleagues and stakeholders
- Prepare and maintain forward planning of survey activities, including schedules, workload, and resource coordination
- Evaluate survey subcontractor tenders and support the selection of the most technically suitable and commercially effective solution
- Support the management and development of engineering software and digital tools, including AutoCAD, ArcGIS, GIS Online, and other relevant platforms
- Contribute to engineering activities during project execution, including data analysis, route engineering, burial assessment
