We are looking for a
Technical Expert in physical modelling and system simulation
to join our engineering team and contribute to the development and validation of advanced models for automotive mechanical and hydraulic systems, with a particular focus on
braking systems
.
The ideal candidate combines strong expertise in physical modelling, system dynamics, and automotive braking systems with hands-on experience using both the
Amesim
and
MathWorks Simscape
toolchains. The role involves translating physical system behavior into robust, reusable simulation models and supporting their application throughout the product development lifecycle, from concept and design through verification and validation.

Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain
high-fidelity physical models
of mechanical, hydraulic, and electro-mechanical automotive systems, particularly braking systems.
Model and simulate braking system components and architectures,
including hydraulic circuits, valves, actuators, pumps, accumulators, calipers, master cylinders, brake boosters, and related mechanical elements.
Develop
1D system-level models
to investigate system performance, dynamic behavior, component interactions, and failure modes.
Use
Siemens Simcenter Amesim
and
MathWorks Simscape/Simulink
to create, calibrate, and validate physical models.
Establish modelling methodologies and best practices across the different simulation toolchains.
Translate physical requirements and engineering specifications into appropriate mathematical and physical representations.
Correlate simulation models against
test-bench, component, and vehicle-level measurements
.
Perform parameter identification, model calibration, sensitivity analysis, and uncertainty assessment.
Support the definition and execution of simulation-based
verification and validation
activities.
Collaborate closely with engineers working on system architecture, controls, hydraulics, mechanics, testing, and vehicle integration.
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to engineers developing physical models.
Evaluate and select appropriate modelling fidelity depending on the engineering application, from concept studies to detailed validation.
Contribute to the development of reusable modelling libraries, simulation workflows, and automated model-validation processes.
Communicate simulation results and technical conclusions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Master Engineering Degree in
Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering,
Mechatronics, Control Engineering
, or a related technical discipline.
Significant professional experience in
physical/system modelling and simulation
within the automotive industry.
Strong understanding of
mechanical and hydraulic system dynamics
, including fluid mechanics, pressure/flow relationships, mechanical dynamics, friction, thermal effects, and energy transfer.
Demonstrated experience with
automotive braking systems
, ideally including hydraulic braking, electro-hydraulic braking, brake-by-wire, or related technologies.
Hands-on experience with both:
Siemens Simcenter Amesim
MathWorks Simscape / Simulink
Strong understanding of
multi-domain physical modelling
and the principles behind equation-based modelling.
Experience with model calibration and correlation against experimental data.
Ability to assess modelling assumptions, numerical behavior, model stability, and simulation accuracy.
Good understanding of simulation workflows covering model development, parameterization, calibration, verification, and validation.
Experience with MATLAB/Simulink scripting or automation is highly desirable.
Knowledge of model-based development and automotive development processes is an advantage.
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
Experience with
brake-by-wire, ESC/ABS, hydraulic brake control, regenerative braking, or integrated braking systems

Experience modelling
electro-hydraulic actuators and mechatronic systems
.
Knowledge of vehicle dynamics and longitudinal vehicle modelling.
Experience integrating physical plant models with
control-system models
.
Familiarity with
MIL, SIL, and HIL
simulation environments.
Experience with automated testing, regression testing, and model-quality assessment.
Knowledge of automotive standards and development processes such as
ISO *****
is a plus.
Experience transferring or correlating models between different simulation environments is particularly valuable
